If you’re reading this, you’re crudely invited to “The State of Eco Horror,” a 1-hour virtual celebration of the publication of CHARWOOD, my forthcoming eco folk horror novel from Aggadah Try It, on Sunday, August 20 @ 4 pm PT / 5 MT / 6 CT / 7 ET.
***To RSVP for Zoom link, please email Josh@joshsworstnightmare.com now!***

Don’t worry, this won’t be your typical book launch. At most I’ll be reading a page or two from CHARWOOD (released on August 21), because the event is really about exploring the thriving subgenre of eco horror fiction. And since I can’t do this alone, I’ve invited on three tremendous guest speakers to help me!
The first is John Baltisberger, horror author and editor with Aggadah Try It, the Jewish speculative fiction imprint of Madness Heart Press brave enough to publish CHARWOOD. In “The Obligation to Heal the World,” Baltisberger will enlighten us on how the Jewish concept of tikkun olam (“repair the world”) ties into environmental responsibility.
Next, in “Fear and Nature,” Carter Soles, co-author of ECOHORROR STUDIES IN THE ANTHROPOCENE and associate professor at SUNY Brockport, will give an academic’s take on eco horror in film.
Then, Jennifer Mamola from John Muir Project will share a slideshow called “Horrific Hysteria of Wildfire Logging,” exposing the newest/worst real-life threat to our carbon-storing forests (a subject I tackle in CHARWOOD).
Finally, I’ll close out the hour with a fun game I literally just made up called “Name That Forest!” where I’ll show you several photos of trees and whoever guesses the state they’re growing in first wins a prize.
If this sounds at all up your alley, I hope you’ll RSVP for the Zoom link today at Josh@joshsworstnightmare.com and join us on August 20th!
Darkest Regards,
Josh Schlossberg
